AI Expert Panel
Almost 180 guests accepted the invitation from the G.NE.T Business Club and the OWWF Bayern (East-West Economic Forum Bavaria) to attend the AI Expert Discussion "Answers from Practice..." at the Neumarkt District Office. After introductory remarks by former Minister of State Eberhard Sinner, Honorary President of the OWWF Bavaria, District Administrator Willibald Gailler and Minister of State Joachim Herrmann as patron, the round table began with input from universities and practitioners.
Eighteen speakers and expert discussion partners discussed the practical benefits and possible applications of AI with around 150 visitors, most of whom were entrepreneurs. Visitors and experts from beyond the Neumarkt district gathered in the main hall of the Neumarkt District Office for the second AI expert panel organised by Ed Sheldon (G.NE.T Business Club and board member of OWWF Bavaria) under the patronage of Minister of State Joachim Herrmann MdL.
In ten specialist presentations and panels, AI experts from the technical universities of Deggendorf, Amberg-Weiden, Regensburg and the Parsberg-Lupburg Technology Campus, as well as IT and AI entrepreneurs from the G.NE.T Business Club, shared their expertise as practical inspiration for the numerous visitors from the fields of trade, crafts, services, production, development and administration.
In his speech, Minister of State Joachim Herrmann emphasised the importance of AI: ‘Artificial intelligence has already noticeably changed our everyday lives. But it is only a tool, a catalyst, an accelerator that can make existing processes more efficient and open up new possibilities.’
AI could thus become a decisive competitive factor in the economy, driving digitalisation and supporting social change. In public administration, AI offers the opportunity to modernise processes by reducing bureaucracy, making administrative services more accessible and improving the quality of service for citizens. However, according to Herrmann, it must always be ensured that AI is used responsibly.
‘It is essential to ensure trust in AI systems through transparent and ethically sound framework conditions. One thing is clear: AI will by no means replace humans, who are empathetic, think critically and have visions. Rather, AI will provide tools with which these people can change the world at a speed that we can hardly imagine today.’
With regard to the Free State's leading position in artificial intelligence, Herrmann emphasised: ‘AI is at home in Bavaria. This is demonstrated not only by our Bavarian high-tech agenda with 130 AI professorships and our AI network throughout the state. It is also demonstrated by the intensive examination of opportunities and risks by our Bavarian companies.’ The state government is closely supporting companies in the implementation of AI in order to consolidate Bavaria's position as a leading location for AI technology.
Cooperation between the state and industry is crucial in this regard: ‘We are very interested in further intensifying cooperation between industry and the Free State of Bavaria,’ said the minister.
