#### Former Bavarian Prime Minister

- Born 23.11.1943 in Hersbruck
- Studied law in Erlangen and Munich
- Doctorate on the topic of "The Conscience Offender in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure".
- 1972 - 1988 and again attorney at law since 2009
- 1974 - 2014 Member of the Bavarian Parliament
- 1988 - 1993 State Secretary at the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior
- 1993 - 2007 Bavarian Minister of the Interior
- 2001 - 2007 Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria
- 2002 Member of the competence team of the candidate for chancellor Dr. Edmund Stoiber
- 2005 Member of the competence team of the candidate for chancellor Angela Merkel
- 2007 - 2008 Bavarian Prime Minister
- 1996 - 2013 Member of the Bavarian State Synod
- 2009 - 2014 Vice-President + Member of the Synod of the EKD
- 2009 - 2014 Member of the Synod of the VELKD and member of the Church Board of the VELKD
